New Liberty Baptist Church was organized on March 18, 1949, and was dedicated to the Lord on Sunday, August 12, 1951. The dedication read as follows:
“We, the people of New Liberty Baptist Church, dedicate this house to the Lord and the Lord only. Anything except the services of the Lord is abhorred from this house now and forever.”
At the time of this dedication, there were 24 charter members. Since New Liberty was organized, there have been 19 ministers called to pastor the church and 30 different men have served on the deacon board. Throughout the years, New Liberty has seen many changes from Sunday School wings added, the church being bricked, the baptistry installed, the fellowship building, and most recently, the front entrance.
The Lord has truly blessed New Liberty since the first service that was held in 1949. He has
given us many material things to make our building beautiful, but most of all He has blessed us with souls being saved, and the word of God is faithfully proclaimed for the redemption of sinners and edification for the saints.
Now we’re 70 years in and I’m reminded of all those who have gone before us. I know that there are some that I’ve never had the privilege to meet that others within the congregation may know and hold dear to the memories that they have. But a song has been a major occurrence in my mind whenever I think about those faithful that have gone on to be with our Lord Jesus, the Christ. And the name of the song is “Find us Faithful” (by Steve Green), I would like to share a verse and chorus from that song.
